Cleveland, OH (August 2, 2024) - Five people were transported to area hospitals with injuries following a motor vehicle accident that occurred in the Cleveland area. The collision was reported to officials at around 9:00 a.m. on July 31.
Official reports indicate that a white 2021 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling northbound on East 78th Street during the morning hours. As the vehicle crossed the intersection of Union Avenue, the driver of a red 2008 vehicle ran a red light at the intersection. As a result, the two vehicles collided. Multiple people were injured as a result of the accident. Emergency medical services responded to the scene to render aid to 33-year-old Christina Leigh Smith and four children, identified as an 8-year-old male, a 2-year-old female, and two 4-year-old females. All five victims were transported to University Hospital for further medical care. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
